The purpose of the Philly DSA Grievance Commission is to receive and review all filed grievance claims in order to determine if they are credible, not credible, or not substantiated. If the claim does not meet the grievance criteria set forth in the Philly DSA Bylaws, the Grievance Commission will discuss other options for addressing the issue with the reporting member(s). If the claim meets the grievance criteria, the Grievance Commission will engage in a confidential investigation (including speaking with relevant members and reviewing relevant documentation, when available) and, upon conclusion, make recommendations for any disciplinary action to the Steering Committee.
1.) Before filing a grievance, please review the criteria for a grievance in the Philly DSA Bylaws, Article XIII. If you have any questions/concerns, please reach out to the Grievance Commission at [email protected].
2.) To file a grievance, please complete this confidential Google form with all required information.
3.) Someone from the Grievance Commission will acknowledge receipt of the form within three (3) days of filing and begin investigating.* Investigating may include:
Speaking with you (the reporting member) and any other reporting members
Speaking with the member(s) the claim is being filed against
Speaking with any other involved or relevant members
Reviewing any documentation related to the claim
4.) Once the investigation is complete, the Grievance Commission will prepare a report and make recommendations for any disciplinary actions or further steps to the Steering Committee. As per the Philly DSA Bylaws, disciplinary actions can include: censure, immediate or regular suspension, and expulsion.
*If the claim does not meet the criteria for a grievance, the Grievance Commission will discuss other options for addressing the issue with the reporting member(s).
*The entire process will take about thirty (30) days to complete.
