Join Seth Ackerman, Adam Hilton and Philly DSA in a discussion about the future of socialists on the ballot!
With the election of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Julia Salazar in New York, Rashida Tlaib in Michigan, Carlos Ramirez-Rosa in Chicago, and Elizabeth Fiedler here in Philadelphia, democratic socialist politics are on the ballot. This is unfamiliar territory for a Left more accustomed to street protest and direct action. How can elections be used to build a movement? Will democratic socialist politicians be able to buck the Democratic Party establishment? How does the Left translate the momentum of these campaigns into lasting political power?
In this panel discussion Seth Ackerman and Adam Hilton will discuss the past and future of socialists on the ballot.
Seth Ackerman is the executive editor of Jacobin Magazine
Adam Hilton is a visiting lecturer at Mount Holyoke College and a contributor toSocialist Register
