Friend —

This week, our bulletin is abridged as we process the results of the election. We hope you’re taking some time to rest. Know that we have a lot to be proud of! If you haven’t yet, check out our initial thoughts on Paul Prescod’s race and his own analysis

We’ll be back as usual next week. In the meantime, we have a few updates and events for you below.

  • We’ve launched a #socialist-book-exchange channel on Slack! If you’ve got a book or reading to share or discuss, please use this channel to connect. Find it by hovering over “Channels” on the left sidebar and clicking the plus sign.
    • If you’re a Philly DSA member and you’d like to join our Slack workspace, please fill out this form. Our Slack hosts more than 400 members who share updates from their DSA projects, get to know other members, and organize between meetings.

  • Anakbayan Philly Philippine Election Vigil: The Philadelphia chapter of Anakbayan is holding a Vigil for Democracy in the wake of Bong Bong Marcos’ and Sara Duterte’s victory as President and Vice President, respectively. Their wins threaten an increase of hostility and state repression toward progressive and socialist forces in the Philippines.
    • We’ll join our comrades to mourn the lives lost under the previous regimes of Rodrigo Duterte and Ferdinand Marcos. Join us tomorrow, May 20 at 6pm in Clark Park.

  • The Steering Committee approved a new COVID-safety protocol for in-person events at their last meeting. Please take a look and email [email protected] with questions.
