SEPTA’s bus system redesign is getting close to completion, so it’s vital to decide whether and how we want to be involved in it. They have released two network options for public comment, promising that the final plan will be influenced by the public’s response to the strengths and weaknesses of these options.Â
But after several years of planning, public awareness of an upcoming change in the bus system remains distressingly low. A coalition of local organizations including Transit Forward Philadelphia, Philly DSA, 5th Square, and Reclaim Philadelphia has been meeting to strategize and plan a response.Â
There are a few ways you can get involved. Organizing around the SEPTA redesign is part of our Green New Deal Commission's ongoing work, and you can come to our next meeting on Wednesday, July 27 at 6:30.Â
In the meantime, the coalition is encouraging individuals to fill out SEPTA’s survey and share it within their networks, including community organizations. Contacts in North Philadelphia are especially needed. Contact Walter at [email protected] for more information or to get involved with our Green New Deal Commission.Â
