We have the opportunity to both rebuild our city’s schools to be safe and modern, and to create the building blocks of a Green New Deal. The Green New Deal for Public Schools Act, introduced by Representative Jamaal Bowman, would invest $1.4 trillion over ten years in public schools and would create 1.3 million good, green, union jobs in the public and private sector, primarily in the education and construction sectors.

In a panel organized by our own Labor Branch and moderated by Dr. Akira Drake Rodriguez, Philly DSA-endorsed state Senator Nikil Saval, Philadelphia Federation of Teachers member Kate Lundeen, President of the citywide Philadelphia Home and School Council Shakeda Gaines, and other stakeholders to be announced will discuss Representative Bowman’s legislation, what it means for labor, and what DSA members can do to support it.

  • Complete the National DSA Membership Survey! This will help us map our membership and get a better read on who we are and how we can organize. Psst, there's also a leaderboard, and we need Philly to come out on top, obviously
  • Action item from the Canvassing Committee: We are asking constituents of Rep. Dwight Evans to send him a letter showing that his constituents believe health care is a human right and urge him to support the Medicare for All Act of 2021. Letters can be written here
  • There's still time to apply to become a permanent committee member. These members vote on committee business and act as leaders within the committees. Fill out this form to apply

  • DSA National is launching a BDS Night School. Palestinian liberation has a home in all DSA chapters, and National is teaming up with top organizers and speakers on the movement to educate our membership. No prior knowledge of BDS is required. Sign up and reserve your spot here
