Ben Fletcher was an African-American leader of Local 8, part of the Marine Transport Worker Industrial Union, the most powerful interracial and multiethnic union of the World War I era.
Our Racial Justice Committee is working with comrades across the city, councilmembers, and Mural Arts Philadelphia on a mural to commemorate Ben Fletcher, the history, and the legacy of interracial labor organizing in Philadelphia.
Every month, the campaign hosts two meeting to report and strategize progress of the mural. Join us the first Tuesday, and third Thursday of each month at 7pm.
