Bernie Sanders's 2020 presidential campaign came to an end this week. Philly DSA wants to thank everyone who joined our campaign for Bernie over the past year for your tireless efforts and dedication.
We know that many of you who fervently supported Bernie are feeling frustrated and disappointed in this result. Yet, the Bernie campaign was always more than his candidacy, and now, more than ever, the fight for the programs he championed must continue.
At this critical moment, we need to take a look at what this means for our organizing strategy going forward. How can we harness the energy of the Sanders movement to keep up the fight for Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and a stronger Labor Movement? And, what is the path for organizing during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic?
At our Beyond Bernie: Emergency Strategy Meeting, we'll hear from leaders in our chapter on what's next for our priority campaigns, and we'll discuss how to move forward in this new political landscape. Your participation will help to shape the coming months of organizing work in the chapter, and to make sure that we don't lose the organizing capacity and momentum behind the Sanders campaign.
Bernie's vision — one of a society that doesn't place the wealth of the few above the well-being and dignity of the may — is what brought many of us into organizing with DSA. Though he didn't go on to win the Democratic nomination, Sanders made democratic socialist demands mainstays of the political conversation. The Sanders movement won’t stop here, and we've got a world to win.
