Phonebank for Medicare for All

Now more than ever, we need a healthcare system that prioritizes the health of working-class Americans over the profits of insurance companies and their billionaire executives! COVID-19 has left millions unemployed, uninsured, and struggling to afford basic necessities like rent. This crisis has been particularly hard-hitting due to our for-profit healthcare system, which withholds healthcare from those who cannot afford it. Only a publicly financed and administered system can prioritize public health, early intervention and prevention, and provide free vaccines. The Health Care Emergency Guarantee Act (HR 6906/S 3790), introduced by Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Sen. Bernie Sanders, would enroll all Americans who lacked insurance in Medicare for the duration of the pandemic. Further, the federal government would also cover all out-of-pocket costs for those with private or public insurance throughout the coronavirus crisis. If passed, this act would pave the way for Medicare for All (HR 1384/S 1129).

We will be phone banking residents in PA-3 to ask them to urge Representative Dwight Evans to support the Health Care Emergency Guarantee Act. A short, optional training will be offered at the beginning of the shift for anyone new to phonebanking for M4A.
