Philly DSA Endorses Paul Prescod for State Senate 8th District
PHILADELPHIA — Last week, Philly DSA membership voted overwhelmingly to endorse Paul Prescod for State Senate in the 8th District.
Prescod is a longtime Philly DSA member and PFT public school teacher who has proven to be a tireless advocate for working people. He has consistently been on the front lines of union struggles including supporting sanitation workers in AFSCME DC 33, Teamsters in Local 623, and striking Kellogg’s workers in Lancaster. As a champion for public education, workers’ rights, Medicare for All and more, Prescod embodies Philly DSA’s priorities and will be an ally to the movement in office.
Philly DSA’s Electoral Committee unanimously supported the chapter’s endorsement of Prescod on the basis of his legislative priorities and service to the organization over the past 6 years as co-chair and founding member of Philly DSA’s Labor Branch. “Philly DSA’s electoral mission is putting working people in office to fight for working people,” says Electoral Committee member Mike Dewar. “Paul Prescod is a former teacher running a strong campaign to keep our schools in public hands, alongside being a long-time member and leader of the chapter, so we’re thrilled to endorse his campaign.”
Philly DSA is committed to electing Paul Prescod, someone who will bring much-needed change to Harrisburg on the path toward democratic socialism.
