Whereas, the Philly DSA Ad Hoc Electoral Evaluation Committee was created in September 2017 by a General Membership vote; and,
Whereas, since its establishment, the Electoral Evaluation Committee has carried out the chapter's candidate endorsement process; and,
Whereas, the Electoral Evaluation Committee has provided necessary research into candidates, districts, and election law that have enabled Philly DSA to create legally compliant independent electoral campaign infrastructure; and,
Whereas, the Electoral Evaluation Committee has contributed directly to the winning primary campaigns of Elizabeth Fielder and Kristin Seale; and,
Whereas, the resolution establishing the committee stipulated that it would dissolve itself at the next General Membership Meeting following the May 15 primary election; and,
Whereas, there is no provision in the Philly DSA bylaws to create a standing committee of the chapter and therefore only ad hoc committees can exist; and,
Whereas, the Electoral Evaluation Committee is critical for our ongoing electoral work through the November general election—especially supporting Kristin Seale's campaign against the Republican incumbent Chris Quinn;
Therefore be it resolved, that the Philly DSA Ad Hoc Electoral Evaluation Committee extend until the General Membership Meeting following the November 6, 2018 general election.
