Join our Safe Air for Philly Schools Campaign to explore the state of Philly schools and get involved in the fight for safe air in every school and every classroom. There will be an art class for kids and plenty of food to share. You won’t want to miss out on the family fun!
About The Campaign
For more than a year, Philly DSA has been pressing the Philadelphia School District to purchase effective filtration devices that meet federal CDC standards for every classroom that needs one. Inadequate ventilation and air filtration in our schools contribute to the spread of respiratory viruses like COVID, flu, RSV, and colds as well as exacerbating asthma. The Philadelphia Board of Education is obligated to ensure Philly public school students breathe healthy air. The School District’s Five Year Plan identifies the physical and environmental safety of students and staff as its priority area #1. Still, we have yet to see follow-through on the Board’s commitment as many schools still lack ventilation, air conditioning, and consistent heat.
To get their attention, we need them to know there are hundreds of people standing together to make this demand. Collectively, we have the power to make change in our local schools and achieve the improvements that students and educators need.
