Summer School: Politics

As socialists, we all want a world beyond capitalism. But, it hardly needs to be said, we're a long way from that horizon. What are the demands we should be making, the struggles we should be engaging in, to get us closer to the day when we can "bring to birth the new world from the ashes of the old?" Politics is the intervention we make into the world as it is, with all its contradictions and limitations. In this session of Night School, we'll be using Peter Camejo's "Liberalism, Ultraleftism or Mass Action" to guide our discussion of democratic socialist politics.

Philly DSA Summer School

This year, the Philly Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) Summer School will meet via Zoom once each month to discuss the growing socialist movement.

Summer Schools are not “schools’’ in the traditional sense. There are no fees, grades, or prior readings. All are welcome regardless of previous experience, whether you’re an expert Marxologist or new to DSA. This summer, we’ll be hosting three sessions: Theory, on how we understand capitalism and the world more broadly; History, exploring that which “weighs like a nightmare on the brains of the living”; and Politics, how we “unite the many to defeat the few.”
