    Bernie Weeknight Canvass

    South Philly, Contact for Address

We will be canvassing in South Philly for our next weeknight Bernie 2020 canvass! Please bring a laptop so that you can quickly enter the sign-up data that you collect when you get back to the launch location.

Since our last big weekend canvass, the Sanders campaign has released:

And, of course, he has continued to say what he has believed for decades: that healthcare is a human right. There's never been a more exciting time to canvass for Bernie!

Back in February, our chapter voted overwhelmingly to endorse Bernie Sanders because he is the only candidate in the race who will fight for our values. From Medicare for All to the Green New Deal to his recently announced plan to forgive all student debt, Bernie has consistently championed programs to build working class power and fight the massive inequality plaguing America today.

This is an opportunity to continue our work building support for Bernie's campaign in earnest. Do you know a friend who's curious about DSA? A member of your union who you've been trying to radicalize? A coworker who complains about how all politicians are crooks? Bring them! Big debates like these are one of the few times where people who don't follow politics that closely get engaged. They'll have the chance to see Bernie draw a clear contrast between our vision of a democratic society for the many and the dead-end corporate centrism for the few that his establishment opponents represent.

Weeknight canvasses are an easy, but important way to have face-to-face conversations with working people about the shortcomings of our capitalist system and how Bernie is the ONLY candidate offering solutions that address the needs of the working class. If you are a first time canvasser, no worries! You'll be trained and paired with an experienced canvasser.

Please note that capacity is limited for weeknight neighborhood canvasses, which are hosted out of the homes of Philly DSA members. RSVP via the link at the bottom of the page to secure your space.

    Bernie Sanders Debate Watch Party

    First Unitarian Church, Parish Room

Cheer on Bernie Sanders as he stands for democratic socialism in the fifth Democratic Primary Debate!

In February, Philly DSA voted overwhelmingly to endorse Bernie Sanders, the only democratic socialist in the Presidential race and the most popular politician in the country. People believe in Bernie Sanders because he fights for universal programs that will make material improvements in people’s lives. He’s the only candidate who will truly fight for Medicare for All, he’s committed to stopping US imperialism, and he has the most ambitious plan for a Green New Deal to fight climate change while empowering workers and unions.

Join Philly DSA as we watch Bernie Sanders take a stand for our values and against the corporate, capitalist hegemony that dominates the Democratic Party and learn how you can get involved in our campaigning for Sanders.

    End-of-year General Meeting and Fundraiser

    William Way Ballroom

At General Meetings we get together to hear reports from projects and committees, set local policy and work priorities, and to debate and vote on resolutions. The assembled membership is the ultimate decision-making body of the local, so participation is crucial.

More information about the fundraiser and the General Meeting agenda will be published here in the coming weeks, stay tuned.
